Our Purpose: Innocence Matters is involved in this case not because Troy Davis is on death row, but because we believe he is innocent and will die unless we can do our part to help convince the courts that innocence matters.

About Innocence Matters:  Innocence Matters is a nonprofit organization and will soon be a member of the Innocence Network.  Our mission is to help Troy and people like him, who through no fault of their own are serving a sentence for a crime that they did not commit. 

This year Innocence Matters launched an innovative preventative program "I Am Innocent" -a seminar that teaches the innocent what they are entitled to expect from any lawyer, how to get the most from their court-appointed lawyers, how to develop a strong working relationship with their lawyer, how to identify signs of an ineffective lawyer, how to document and preserve innocence, how to replace an ineffective lawyer, and, hopefully in the process, how to avoid their wrongful conviction.
